SUMMARY:Foraging Medicinals at Balsam Moon Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Foraging Wild Medicinals class is offered at Balsam Moon Preserve on Saturday\, July 25\, 2-6pm with Stacey Quade guiding.  This class is sure to please as participants will learn about the variety and abundance of wild medicinals we often think of as weeds and nuisance plants.  We'll learn respectful practices\, and head out to forage some of nature's aids for wellness and then make some tinctures and learn about uses\, processing and applications.\n     Quade will focus on familiar plants (weeds) and herbs found in your yard and woods around you. She'll note first aid plants and herbs packed with nutrition\, that nature plants for you.  Plants and herbs found in your yard and the woods around you such as yarrow\, plantain\, mullein\, nettles\, goldenrod\, horsetail\, and more have much to offer and will be identified.  She'll aid in identifying uses to add to your meals\, basic nutrients and herbal first aid.     Stop mosquito bites from itching!  Take the sting out of bee stings.  Chew on this ... to settle tummy upset.  Learn about "helpers" for cuts\, scrapes and bruises.  And there are many plants/herbs to aid with healing colds\, flu\, & allergies.\n     Part of our time together will be presentation\, foraging and make 'n take tinctures\, and some taste sampling like Anise Hyssop Tea which not only tastes lovely\, it also aids in respiratory and digestive wellness.\n      Quade is a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner and Instructor (CHTP/I) and Herbalist living and practicing in Duluth\, MN.  Her herbal experience stems from a lifelong relationship with plants and nature. Structured learning and clinical education began in 2002.  Herbal products are available through direct sales and in community at the Duluth Whole Foods Co-op and other local businesses.         Additional activities and classes at Balsam Moon include: Grapevine Basket Weaving\, Tuesday\, August 4\, 2-5pm\; Pizza Night Friday\, August 8\, 5-7pm preceded by a Sustainable Tour from 4-5pm\; Tending Grief with Nature\, Sunday\, August 16\, 2-5pm\; Processing & Preserving Wild Mushrooms\, Sunday\, August 23\, 3-6pm\; Harvest Celebration & Meal (potluck) on Saturday\, September 12\, 2-7pm\, and Seed Saving on Saturday\, Sept. 26.      Overnight experiences in the rustic cordwood cabins are available for personal retreat or in combination with a class.  Short hiking trails\, including the StoryWalk  with One Dog Canoe by Mary Casanova\, are available to walk and the Labyrinth in the Woods is also available.  Children and families of all ages are welcome.
